ELKINS, WV (February 18, 2010)
Woodlands Development Group (WDG) is accepting applications for build-to-suit affordable home construction in Randolph County. Initially funded by a $400,000 grant from the West Virginia Housing Development Fund, this effort seeks to better meet local housing needs.
“Customers will now be able to tailor construction plans to suit their lives,” commented WDG Program Manager Carol Cain Bush. “They will have more options to choose from regarding the building site, approved floor plans, and some interior and exterior features.”
WDG homes are typically 900-1400 square feet with 2-4 bedrooms, 1-2 bathrooms and have many energy efficient features, such as 2x6 exterior wall construction, high grade insulation, and energy efficient appliances.
Eligible applicants for the build-to-suit program must live in Randolph County, meet certain income guidelines, and qualify for a primary mortgage. Applicants must also complete an approved eight-hour Homebuyer Education course.
